Get Block Island is an independent local magazine about Block Island, Rhode Island — the beaches, the boats, the kitchens, the weather, and the roughly one thousand people who keep a seven-mile island running year-round.
We started this site because the official tourism material tells you the island is beautiful (true) and stops there. It won't tell you which beach lot fills by 10, which boat sells out first, or which month the locals would pick for their own vacation. We will. Helpful first, opinionated second, promotional never — the ads here are clearly ads, and the writing isn't for sale.
The rules we work by
- Facts get verified and dated. Prices and hours carry an "as of" whenever we print them.
- Every photograph on this site is a real photograph. No AI-generated imagery, ever.
- Best-of lists pick real winners for stated reasons. Nobody buys a ranking.
- Sponsored placements are labeled "Sponsored." All of them.
- When we get something wrong, we correct it and say so — see the editorial policy.
