Editorial policy
Accuracy
Specific facts — hours, prices, ferry times, dates, names — come from the businesses and agencies themselves, from official schedules, or from an on-island check. We date volatile facts in the text ("as of June 2026") and re-verify seasonal pages each season. A page's "Updated" date changes only when its content actually changes.
Corrections
When we get a fact wrong, we fix the page and note the correction at the bottom of it. Spotted an error? news@getblockisland.com — corrections make the site better and we treat them that way.
Reviews & rankings
Best-of lists reflect our honest judgment and are never sold. First-person claims — "we ate here," "we stayed here" — appear only when someone contributing to the piece actually did. Where we haven't visited recently, we say what a place is known for rather than pretending we were there last Tuesday.
Advertising & sponsorship
Sponsored placements are labeled "Sponsored" and use rel="sponsored" links.
Advertisers — including recurring ones — get no influence over editorial coverage,
rankings, or reviews. Venues never pay to appear in a list, and never pay to move up one.
Photography & AI
Every image on this site is a real photograph or an obvious graphic. We do not publish AI-generated imagery. Writing is drafted with software assistance and edited by people; every fact obeys the accuracy policy above regardless of who or what typed the first draft.
Bylines
Our section bylines are pen names maintained by the publication's small editorial team — a common practice in local publishing. They carry no invented credentials, and factual authority rests with the publication and this policy, not with any byline.
