What's on, on-island

Every event listed here is verified against the organizer before it goes up — dates change on an island where weather runs the schedule, so we'd rather list less and be right. Know something we don't? Tell the news desk.

This season

The verified calendar for this season is being loaded. Meanwhile, the annual fixtures below are the dates to plan around.

The annual fixtures

  • Fourth of July

Fireworks over Crescent Beach — when the funding comes through. The island’s biggest week by a mile.

  • Block Island Race Week

Sailboats take over the harbors and the bars follow suit.

  • The Block Island Triathlon

Swim, bike, run — and registration fills fast.

  • ChowdaFest

The island’s chowder title fight. Ballard’s took the 2025 crown.

  • Best on the Block voting

Our own awards — ballots open in summer, winners in July.

  • Holiday Stroll

The season’s last hurrah before the island goes quiet.
