A webcam check beats a forecast for the two things that actually cancel island plans: fog over the Sound and wind-whipped harbors. If you can see Old Harbor clearly on a cam, the boat is almost certainly running; if the frame is gray soup at 8 a.m. in June, give it until noon before you change anything — that's ordinary morning fog, and it burns off.
We're assembling a verified list of public island cams with their owners' blessing — embedding someone's harbor cam without asking is not how a neighborly publication operates. Until then, the live feeds below tell most of the story:
- Live conditions at the airport station — temperature, wind, visibility
- Today's tide chart
- The Sound's marine forecast
